Find Your Rug Fit

INRUGS · PLACEMENT & PROPORTION

A rug that feels right in your room.

Choose your room below and compare a few furniture layouts. Every rug measurement shown in these illustrations comes from sizes listed on our website.

Mark the outline with masking tape and measure your furniture before choosing. Each design has its own available sizes—use the Size selector on its product page to check.

Living room

Let the seating arrangement set the rug position. A compact rug can sit beneath a coffee table; a larger one can connect the sofa and chairs by catching their front legs.

240 × 330 cm

Bedroom

Plan a soft landing beside the bed and at its foot. Measure the bed frame and bedside furniture, then check how far the rug extends beyond them.

280 × 380 cm

Dining room

Allow at least 60 cm beyond the table on every side where chairs are used. Pull a chair out before measuring to check that its legs will remain on the rug.

Hallways & runners

Measure the clear walkway, leaving some flooring visible at the edges. Check door swings and keep the runner clear of steps and thresholds.

A short passage or bedside

80 × 300 cm

A longer hallway

Round rugs

Use a circle to soften a seating corner or define a small setting. The size shown is the diameter; check the full circle against your furniture and walking space.

The diagrams compare rug proportions. Furniture is illustrative and is not a promise of fit. Not every design is available in every size shown. For round rugs, the stated centimetres are the diameter. For an irregular shape, confirm its overall width, length and outline with our team.

Flooring: measure your room in m²

  1. Measure the room’s length and width in metres.
  2. Multiply length × width. For an L-shaped room, split it into rectangles and add their areas.
  3. Allow for cuts, board direction, pattern and pack rounding. Our team will confirm the allowance and number of packs for your chosen product.

Example: 4.0 m × 5.0 m = 20 m² before cutting allowance. If your installer specifies a 10% allowance, that becomes 22 m² before rounding to full packs. This is an example, not a fixed allowance for every floor.

Check each product’s board dimensions, thickness, pack coverage and installation requirements. Flooring area in m² is different from board dimensions in mm. For scotia and trims, measure the required linear metres and confirm the length of each piece. Our written quotation confirms material quantities, installation, preparation and transport.
